In the early 1940s the Seeds family began to repair clocks and watches. By the mid to late 1950s in Corpus Christi, Texas, "Jim Seeds Jewelry and Watch Repair" opened for business. About 1968, Jim sold the business to his partner and moved to Gainesville, Texas, where he opened "Jim Seeds Jewelry." In both locations, his trademark was a rocket mounted on either a truck or a dune buggy with the ad "See Jim Seeds for Your Jewelry Needs."
All five of Jim's children were involved at some level with the family business. The store in Gainesville was closed after his death in 1995. After furthering his education, J.D. Seeds has opened "JimSeedsJewelry.com," an e-commerce venture showcasing products by companies that offer excellence in "Gold, Silver and Platinum Craftsmanship."
